Active corrosion was removed using Biox and soft brass brushes. Used Orvis® non ionic detergent soaps was used with nylon bristle brushes. State was rinsed before and after treatments, Final rinse of filtered water- statue was dried. Two applications of conservator’s hot wax treatment were administered, cooled and buffed.  A cold conservators wax applied and hand buffed.

George Gordon Meade (December 31, 1815 – November 6, 1872) was an American military officer who served in the United States Army and the Union army as Major General in command of the Army of the Potomac during the American Civil War from 1863 to 1865. He fought in many of the key battles of the Eastern theater and defeated the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia led by General Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Gettysburg. Wikipedia
Meade took over the construction of the Barnegat Lighthouse and lead the construction of three other lighthouses in Florida.
