These two figures depict Staff Sergeant Bernie Friedenberg attending to a wounded soldier during WWI. Friedenberg was born in Atlantic City. The statue was commissioned by The Bernie Friedenberg Foundation. In spite of the statue having been dedicated in 2024- it exhibited accelerated corrosion products on the surface and within the crags of the sculpture. The statues were washed using non-ionic detergent. Surface corrosion was minimized using Biox. . Two applications of conservator’s hot wax treatment were administered, cooled and buffed.
