William “Count” Basie was born in Red Bank, NJ on August 21, 1904.

The sculpture’s stable original patina was retained and protected; only active corrosion products threatening the metal were addressed. Cleaning, localized corrosion mitigation, selective toning, and a full protective coating system were carried out to return the sculpture to an outdoor museum-quality condition. Two (2) hot coats of conservator’s wax weere applied at ~140°
